Autism: Dealing with It on the Outside; Living with It on the Inside
In this session Matt describes his life with autism with emphasis on his sensory issues, his medications, the many different environments he has had to deal with, his challenges and his strengths. Nancy Alar describes what autism is and isn’t, including various statistics about autism. She provides information about how autism changes as people grow up and the most common issues facing people on the autism spectrum.  Nancy also reviews some of her hints and tips for working with people on the spectrum and used stories to illustrate the communication challenges shared by those on and off the autism spectrum.  Handouts are included.

Successful Transition Strategies Used for Matt Ward
In this session Matt describes his life with autism with emphasis on his sensory issues, the many different environments he has had to deal with, his challenges and his strengths. Nancy provides a handout with an extensive list of transition tips.  This list served as a basis for a detailed discussion about how Matt was supported through various school environments, moving into his own apartment and finding a job.

Being Autistic and Succeeding in College – A Team Approach
In this session Matt describes his life with a focus on his education career, especially his experiences in college, both good and bad.  Nancy describes how the team approach was implemented and managed to help Matt succeed, including the use of an SSI PASS plan and creation and use of the Educational Power of Attorney, a ground-breaking new legal document.
